Wild West Adventure Package
The following 14 days sportive itinerary gives you an idea about the possibilities that the area provides to the outdoor enthusiast. If you would like any changes or have suggestions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
This Package costs for the 2 of you 3.320 Can$, starts with dinner on the 2nd day and ends on the 14th day with packed lunch. It includes 13 nights accommodation in a new timber frame chalet, 8% Hotel tax, 7% GST, breakfasts, packed lunches, BBQ lunch, dinners, the underlined activities and the organization. Not included is the first night in Calgary and your rental car (both can be arranged by me), entrance fee for the Hot Springs and the Wolf Center, any beverages and gratuity.
DAY
1 Arrival in Calgary Airport. Take the free airport Shuttle to the Airport Holiday Inn for the 1st night. You will pay that room directly there, but I will book it for a special rate (TBA).
2 The next day take the shuttle again to the airport and get your rental car. Enjoy a beautiful drive through the Rocky Mountains and their unique scenery. Take the opportunity to have a lunch break in BANNF. Restaurants, Shops, Museums and lots of attractions are waiting for you. In the late afternoon we welcome you at the TIMBER INN with a welcome drink in our new LOUNGE. You will have enough time to make yourselves comfortable in your room or chalet and come for a gourmet dinner in our RESTAURANT.
3 You will have a relaxing day by making an excursion to the KOOTENAY NATIONAL PARK. Stop by the following Points of Interest for a short hike: Marble Canyon, Fireweed Trail, Paint Pots, Mount Wardle (Mountain Goats) Kootenay Viewpoint and Olive Lake. On your way back take a dip in Radium’s Hot Springs. By the parks gate you’ll come through Sinclair Canyon: watch out for Bighorn Sheep.
4 Ready to be active? Golden is famous for WHITE WATER RAFTING on the Kicking Horse River. The Wet’n’wild Company provides you with all the equipment, instructions, steak lunch and lots of fun.
5 You start early today with a packed for a beautiful tour through the YOHO NATIONAL PARK. Yoho Valley, Kicking Horse Pass, Lower Spiral Tunnel, Takkakaw Fall, Natural Bridge, Emerald Lake, Wapta Fall and lots of opportunities to hike.
6 As you are in the Wild West go for 2 days on a Cowboy Adventure. Experience the remote Wilderness on a Horse Back Trip. You will start after breakfast with a packed lunch, includes a campfire dinner, sleeping in a hut or tents, outdoor breakfast and lunch, experienced horsemen and reliable horses. No riding experience necessary.
7 You will also have a chance to try your luck as a fisherman. In the evening we welcome you back to civilization and a nice dinner.
8 After those 2 days wilderness you’re allowed to be a tourist again today and go to explore Glacier National Park. There are several options, whether you go on a easy hike or a adventurous climbing tour, see the Cedars in the rain forest, the railroad history, Rogers Pass etc.
9 BUGABOO PROVINCIAL PARK. That’s a must! A rough logging road brings you along the Bugaboo Creek and a waterfall to the end of a remote valley, where you sight the Bugaboo Glacier. A 2 hours hike brings you to the Konrad Kain Hut or to Kobalt Lake.
10 FUN DAY. After breakfast start with a packed lunch to the neighborhood. There awaits you a different and enjoyable golf challenge. The off road organic golf, disc golf or tennis. Each of the 11 holes at Infinity golf offer unforgettable vistas of the Columbia Valley. You and your family have exclusive use of the whole course with only the picture postcard surroundings and the Rocky Mountains to distract you. In the afternoon take a stroll and experience our authentic small town atmosphere. Discover our in-town trail system and the covered timber frame pedestrian bridge or stroll through our streets and walk by some of our heritage homes. Do some window or serious shopping. Last, but not least, on Friday nights in July & August take in Golden Sounds of Summer free open/air entertainment. In the evening we arranged a wetland float tour for bird watching.
11 More to do in our great area. Find yourself where only eagles and helicopters once flew. This is Kicking Horse Mountain Resort, the Canadian Rockies newest alpine escape. Feel the force of two great river systems that have carved fertile valleys and teaming wetlands over the millennia. Now lift your eyes 4133 feet above you, to the splendor of the mountains. Here, at the convergence of three of North America mightiest mountain ranges, is some of the most spectacular scenery and variety of flora and fauna on Planet Earth. Golden Eagle Express, an 8 Passenger picture window capsule that lifts you, sightseers or hikers, to the mountaintop in less than 12 minutes. At Altitude 7700 feet, Eagles Eye Restaurant is the most elevated dining experience in Canada, where you will enjoy your lunch. Gondola ride and lunch is included in the package. And from here, you can explore the numerous walking trails that connect the peaks and lead to high alpine meadows filled with a profusion of wildflowers.
12 Jasper National Park & Columbia Ice fields. You also have a chance to go on a guided glacier tour with snow coaches. (extra costs)
13 Just relax on your last day in the Columbia Valley. Go for a short hike taking off behind your chalet. There are other thins to do like Kajaking, Flight seeing, Mountain biking etc. Or go to the near (14 km) located Mitten Lake Beach for a swim or sun bathing.
14 Today you have to say good bye to the Timber Inn. On your way to Calgary visit Lake Louise, Morraine Lake or Canmore. Before the departure from Calgary Airport, there is a lot to do. Shopping, Museums, Zoo . . . .
